Travel

One of my regrets in life is that I did not travel or do a study abroad while in college. But, despite my limited amount of vacation time (and money), I am trying to remedy that now by traveling as much as possible. Some of my recent travelling is detailed on my travel blogs at TravBuddy.com. I also have started using TripIt to plan my trips.

My Travels

London, England

For three weeks over Christmas break my senior year in high school I traveled to London with my family and friends. We went to many plays and museums. Several years later, we returned for a long weekend.

Costa Rica

A monkey hanging out at the hotel. In May 2004 I had the opportunity to visit Costa Rica with a group from Elon University. I had been taking spanish classes at Elon University's Spanish Center for about a year and one of the best benefits Elon University offers its employees is this trip for those who have been studying Spanish. View some photos from the trip.

Since then, I've returned to Costa Rica several times. First, on my own in June 2005 when I studied spanish for a week at El Paraiso Spanish Language School in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. View some photos from the trip.

I returned to Costa Rica in February 2006 to vacation with my parents, in August 2007 and in July 2008.

Puerto Rico

In 2007 and 2008 I went to Puerto Rico over Easter weekend with a friend. We spent most of the time in Vieques where we went to the beaches, went snorkeling and swam in the bioluminescent bay. I have posted some photos from my first trip. During the second trip we watched a reenactment of Christ's Passion.

Bocas del Toro, Panama

The fourth time I went Costa Rica, I felt like I should do something different and since I was traveling on my own, I was flexible. It turned out that flights from San Jose to Bocas del Toro were quite inexpensive, so I went there for a few days. I mostly relaxed, took a tour of the islands in which I went snorkeling, saw dolphins and went to Red Frog beach. I took a half-day intro scuba course but didn't have time to get certified.

Spain

a view from Parc Güell (Barcelona, Spain) In May 2008, I traveled to Barcelona and San Sebastian for a week with my family. We spent several days in Barcelona visiting many of the great tourist sites (including musuems and Gaudi buildings) and staying in the Gothic quarter. We then took the train to San Sebastian and visited the Guggenheim in Bilbao. I took a ton of photos, a few of which are posted on Flickr and are also viewable here.
